Collaborative School of Public Health

UMCP and UMB are working toward accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) of a Collaborative School of Public Health. Faculty and administrators from the UM School of Public Health in College Park and the UM Department of Epidemiology and Public Health in the School of Medicine in Baltimore are developing joint Masters of Public Health curricula to be offered to incoming students in the fall of 2014.

Public health students will have opportunities to participate in an increased variety of classes and in research, enabled by new technologies in communication. The increased depth and breadth of the collaborative school will result in more students pursuing public health careers, enhancing our capacity to meet the public health workforce needs of the state.

The two universities will engage in a self-study through fall 2014, to be followed by a three-day site visit by CEPH in spring 2015. Together, these will serve as evidence of the quality of our instructional, research, and service efforts, and will be the basis for the decision on accreditation.
