UMB and College Park to Share Recreational Facilities

University Recreation and Fitness (URecFit) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and the Department of Campus Recreation Services at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) have agreed to provide access to recreation facilities to members of both campuses as another collaborative component of MPowering the State.

As of July 1, 2013, all fee-paying students at UMB and UMCP have access to both campuses’ recreational facilities, regardless of in which university they are enrolled, during scheduled hours of operation and are allowed to use those facilities at no added cost.

In addition, current staff and faculty who possess valid recreational facilities membership also have access to both recreational facilities during scheduled hours of operation. Please note, however, that UMB employees must purchase membership at the Southern Management Corporation Campus Center and UMCP employees must purchase membership at the Eppley Recreation Center. Once purchased, membership can be used to access facilities at both campuses.

Furthermore, participation in paid courses and programs (with the appropriate registration fee paid) as well as group sessions such as free fitness classes, is allowed at both sites by fee-paying UMB and UMCP students and by employees of both universities who hold membership at their respective campus recreational facility. But intramural sports, sports clubs, and student employment opportunities are limited to each student’s “home” or primary campus.
