The University of Maryland SAFE Center for Human Trafficking Survivors has been awarded a $843,337 grant from the Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention to maintain and expand its services.

The SAFE Center, a partnership with the University of Maryland, Baltimore through the MPowering the State Program, provides “survivor-centered and trauma-informed services that empower trafficking survivors to heal and reclaim their lives.”

The funds from this grant will help the center advance in its mission to provide services throughout Maryland, expanding to Washington County in partnership with the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown and Meritus Medical Center. The center will also be able to meet the growing need for clinical mental health services and emergency crisis intervention services in Montgomery County.
