Montgomery County is solidifying its position as a hub for healthcare and technology with the grand opening of the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing.
The state-of-the-art facility, located in North Bethesda’s burgeoning bio-life sciences corridor, aims to transform public health through groundbreaking research and partnerships.
The Institute is the result of a collaboration between the University of Maryland, Baltimore, the University of Maryland Medical System and Montgomery County.
“We are innovating in healthcare delivery and accelerating economic development in Montgomery County,” said Brad Maron, a key leader at the institute. “The local life sciences community has been incredibly welcoming and eager to partner with us.”
The facility will work with industry leaders and federal agencies to develop cutting-edge solutions, including life-saving clinical diagnostic tests and advanced research proposals. Demonstrations during the grand opening showcased AI applications, VR technology and pioneering research on fighting diseases.
Kate Stewart, another official at the event, highlighted the Institute’s broader impact: “It’s not just about innovation; it’s about improving lives—both for those who will benefit from these advancements and for the people who live and work in this community.”
