University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (UM-IHC) and University of Maryland School of Medicine post-doctoral fellow Katarina Zeder, MD, PhD, received a 2025 United Therapeutics Jenesis Innovative Research Award last month.

This prestigious recognition, given on May 18th, honors her groundbreaking work in advancing how we treat pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Dr. Zeder and her collaborators, including UM-IHC Co-Executive Director Bradley A. Maron, MD, are using a deep phenotyping approach to identify individuals with COPD who may benefit from novel therapies.

This honor is a powerful reflection of UM-IHC’s mission to lead transformative, collaborative research that advances patient care for individuals in Maryland and beyond.
