UM Ventures Initiative Receives Major Funding

Medical device startup company CoapTech has received investor capital to support clinical testing, bringing its feeding tube placement technology closer to Food and Drug Administration approval. The company is based on the work ofSteven Tropello, MD, MS, clinical instructor in emergency medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

CoapTech was founded under the guidance of UM Ventures, an initiative of the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State program designed to bring together the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland, College Park to commercialize discoveries and create economic impact by engaging partners in industry and social ventures.
